Parent to Kid Connection (PKC) program provides FREE monthly workshops, accompanied with complimentary food! Each session is a delightful mix of creative play, art-making, and open dialogue, expertly facilitated by parenting specialists and professional artists.
The importance of Fatherhood with Samuel Ospina and Jean-Robert Menard from Broward Healthy Start Coalition. Being a father is not just about providing for your children financially, but also emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Being a father is a 24/7 responsibility that requires commitment, dedication, and love. But how do you become a 24/7 dad? And what are the key behaviors that make a difference in your childrenās lives? In this workshop, you will learn about the key behaviors of a 24/7 dad, such as self-awareness, caring for self, fathering skills, parenting skills, relationship skills, and communication skills. You will also discover some practical tips and strategies to apply these behaviors in your daily interactions with your children and co-parents. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and challenges with other fathers, and to ask questions to a qualified facilitator.

Join artist Pao for a fun-filled art workshop where kids get to decorate their own small flower pots. Kids will take home their artistically decorated pots along with potting soil and seeds, empowering them to grow and nurture their own plant. Unlock you and your child’s creativity with our fun and interactive workshop! Our guest Cartoon Artist Mark Siermaczeski will teach us to transform basic shapes into amazing artworks. From circles to triangles, they’ll learn the magic of turning simple forms into fantastic drawings.
The 3Ts – Tune In, Talk More, and Take Turns – a simple, yet powerful tool to help parents make the most of everyday interactions with their children will be shared. The 3Ts do not cost anything and they do not require special training or extra time. Join Allison Metsch, M.S.ED from the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, as she takes you through a deep dive into making the everyday conversations with your child extraordinary.
Artist Jill Lefkowitz will also host a paper bag puppet making workshop as a tool of communication to tie in with the 3Ts. Create puppets of your family members out of paper lunch bags using art supplies such as: markers, yarn, ribbons, feathers, glue, felt, construction paper, crayons and pipe cleaners. The puppet can be taken home and used for storytelling creating a wonderful connection between the parent and the child.
By partnering with organizations across Broward, Parent to Kid Connection (PKC) will host 10 free monthly parent and child group sessions at Young At Art Museum. These sessions explore a unique blend of creative play, art-making, and open dialogue, facilitated by partnering early childhood experts and professional artists. These artists and parents will engage participants creatively in their artistic practice and stories of how motherhood or fatherhood has influenced their body of work. The program focuses on fostering healthy parenting skills, promoting positive mental health practices, encouraging creative approaches to raising families, enhancing communication skills between parents and children, and building lasting community bonds.
