About YAA

Young At Art Museum (YAA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and beloved cultural institution in Broward County for over 35 years, serving more than 2 million visitors from across the globe. Founded in 1987 by Esther and Mindy Shrago as a “museum without walls,” YAA began by delivering art education directly to children and families throughout South Florida.

As the only children’s art museum in Broward County, YAA fills a critical gap left by limited school funding for the arts. Our mission is to enrich the community through engaging, artistic, and interactive experiences that spark creativity and foster connection.

Today, under the visionary leadership of CEO Traci Leon, YAA is entering an exciting new chapter—building on its legacy while expanding its reach and impact.

YAA features immersive exhibitions by both local and internationally acclaimed artists, offering visitors of all ages and abilities a chance to explore their imagination through hands-on creativity. The museum supports artists by providing a platform to turn bold ideas into interactive installations paired with workshops that invite the community into the creative process.

Our programming includes Artist Workshops, STEAM Workshops, Early Childhood Play Dates, Sensory Saturdays, Art Classes, Camps, Field Trips, Classroom Outreaches, Community Outreaches, and free Community Initiatives serving children experiencing homelessness, at-risk teens, Title I students, and low-income families.

Recent Impact Highlights (2024–2025):

  • Over 2M visitors from 46 states & 32 countries since 1989
